Trends in assault in Kings Cross

There appears to be considerable confusion about trends in non-domestic assault in Kings Cross.

The confusion stems in part from the fact that the trend depends on what area you define as Kings Cross, whether your focus is on non-domestic assaults on licensed premises or non-domestic assaults off licensed premises and the time period over which you examine the trend.

The term "Kings Cross" is sometimes used to mean "Kings Cross Local Area Command", sometimes taken to mean "Kings Cross postcode" and sometimes (though rarely) taken to mean "Kings Cross Precinct."

The trend in assaults under any definition of Kings Cross also varies depending on whether the focus is on assaults on or off licensed premises and the length of the period over which change is assessed.

The following table should help clarify the situation. It shows the trend in recorded numbers of non-domestic assaults over the last two and five years, both on and off licensed premises, and separately for Kings Cross Local Area Command and Kings Cross postcode (2011).
