A reception counts a new prisoner in the reporting period. Receptions can be:
i. A remand reception: describing entry of an unsentenced prisoner awaiting court finalisation.
ii. A sentenced reception: describing entry after a prisoner is sentenced at court.
A discharge counts the exit of a prisoner from custody during the reporting period. Discharges can be broken down into four categories: parole, bail, sentenced expired and other.
