Justice Sarah Huggett

The Honourable Justice Sarah Huggett was sworn-in as a Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 12 December 2023. Her Honour holds a Bachelor of Arts from Macquarie University and graduated from the University of Sydney in 1991 with a Bachelor of Laws with first class honours, and subsequently attained a Master of Laws in 1995. Her Honour was called to the Bar and appointed a Crown Prosecutor in 2001, before she was sworn in as a District Court judge in 2012 where she served as the Court’s representative on the Consent Monitoring and Advisory Group Meeting and Chair of the Child Sexual Offence Evidence Program Steering Committee, and has presided over many significant sexual abuse cases involving children. In April 2024 her Honour became the first woman to be appointed Chief Judge of the District Court of New South Wales.
